When I first found this trail back arounf 1985 it was much less traveled and undeveloped. It was a real challenge to take the passenger van through the south side of the trail. We crawled along under 5 mph.
The south side is now a wide road easily traveled by any type of vehicle. But the north side is more rutted and has trail cross-cuts for stopping errosion and would now be impossible for the same van to traverse. Ironically we were able to go nearly 30 mph on the north side in '85.
But this trail intersects with Second Mountain Road and Gauley Ridge Rd.
